Welcome back for the second post in this series, How To Create A Website That Makes Visitors Fall In Love — which is part of my bigger series, The Ultimate Guide To Being A Wedding Photographer.

Yes! It’s a series within a series.

Today I’m sharing my secrets for the perfect About page.

Share Your Bio

Think of this as your personal story + your resume… but way more fun.

In fact, regardless of your unique “brand tone,” your bio needs to feature your personality. It should be anything but boring and/or stuffy. This is your chance to share a bit about yourself so potential client fall in love and just have to work with you!

Like I said, it’s also a sort of “resume.” Use it as a place to not only share your personal history, but also your experience and expertise.

Questions Your Bio Should Answer:

  • What do you do?
  • For whom?
  • Why do you do it?
  • How long have you done it?
  • Why should they hire you?

Quick Facts & Fun Details

Another section I like to design for my clients’ about pages is a “quick facts/fun details” canvas.

Even though you would never write a boring bio, it’s still a big chunk of text. And no matter how fun and engaging you make it, most visitors won’t read it word-for-word.

Instead, visitors tend to skim.

So, to add a visual “break” and catch their attention, I design these sections to be visually engaging, with bite-sized info.

This is also a great place to share more of your personality!

Here are a few ideas for this section:

  • Bucket List | Things (personal and professional) you want to achieve or do
  • Favorite Things | A list of your favorite products and things
  • Travel | Places you’ve been or hope to go (perfect for destination photographers!)
  • Family | The important people in your life (and in your brand!)

Your Why & Brand Values

Your about page is the perfect place to really dive into your why and your brand values.

You can of course add a section to share your why, your mission statement, your brand values, etc. But I actually recommend, instead, that you share it throughout your page.

One of the big things I work on with my Brand Intensive students is defining their why and their brand values. If you need help with this, check out this post to discover your why, and this post to figure out your brand values.

And if you want one-on-one help, consider booking a Brand Intensive with me.

Once my students know these things, I tell them to “talk through their why.” This means that regardless of what they’re writing, posting, or sharing, they should always include their why.

What do you think, friend? Ready to revamp your own about page? When you do, leave me a comment below with the link — I’d love to see it!
