Just days after announcing that I had officially gone on maternity leave, I got the sweetest inquiry from Karen, who was looking for photography for her new brand and business venture, The Inspired Mama. Closing in on ten months of an incredibly rough pregnancy, I was not only on maternity leave, but also mentally, physically, and emotionally checked out of my biz. So I was super excited when we were able to reconnect nearly four months later, when I returned to work!
Just one Skype meeting, and I knew I wanted to work with Karen. I loved her sweet and supportive personality, her impeccable sense of style, and her passion for her new brand and direction.
Karen serves the mom who lives a chaotic and full life. The mom who dedicates everything to her career and family, which means she feels she’s not spending enough time with her kids or her performance at work is suffering, and taking care of herself-who the heck has time for that? The mom who wants to figure out how to orchestrate a beautiful, harmonious life between the daily necessities of work and nurturing her family and her own self-devotion. She hopes to discover how to live the life she wants for herself and dreams of for her children.
Who better to welcome as one of my first clients back, after maternity leave??
Karen chose to do a full Brand Photography Experience, including headshots, brand portraits, and custom styled stock. (I’m sharing some of my favorites from her headshots and brand portraits in this post — and will be back with a whole new post for her styled stock!)
We began her Brand Photography Experience several weeks before the photo shoot, starting with a Style Consultation (via Skype) to go over wardrobe, props and more. After that I created a custom Style Guide pdf for Karen that detailed three different looks, hair + makeup, props, and more.
When I say Karen was an absolute dream to work with — I don’t say it lightly. She followed that Style Guide to a T! Which meant we got some absolutely fabulous photos for her new brand.
