I remember when I first met Emily, her bright smile flashed at me several times as we set up neighboring booths at a local bridal fair. Although, at first, the bridal fair would appear to have a very poor ROI, I still credit the event with two important connections: meeting Emily, and meeting Matthew (but that story is for a later date).
At the time Emily was working as an event coordinator at a Fort Collins hotel and I was still finishing up my art degree at UNC in addition to running my photography business. We kept in touch and tossed around the idea of a styled shoot but we were both busy and couldn’t seem to find the time. This last spring, when Emily announced she had launched her very own event planning company, Jolly Events, I reached out to her to send my congratulations as well as suggest we finally create our collaborative shoot for her new portfolio. Emily jumped at the idea and a whirlwind of coffee dates, planning sessions, and vendor meetings quickly followed. Before we knew it our “little shoot” had grown into a large production (a fake wedding, really).
Although the shoot occurred back in April of this year, I have spent the last four months working on publication. The entire process has been a lesson in patience and perseverance. However, now that the images from our shoot have been featured on Couture Colorado, I finally am able to share them. And I am thrilled to do so. First, though, I want to share a behind the scenes look at our Modern Whimsical Wedding Inspiration.
