California // Here We Come
Due to a slight obsession with The O.C. when I was younger, my internal monologue has serenaded me repeatedly with that Phantom Planet song for the last month. It’s true; I’m moving to California. We, actually, are moving to Santa Maria, CA. Matthew and I will road-trip (along with the assistance of my sweet brother, Zach) from the Rocky Mountains to the California coast early next month.
Matthew, who is an officer in the U.S. Air Force, has received orders for a Permanent Change of Station to Vandenberg AFB in California. He will be in training there until next July, when we will move back to Colorado. Although I never (nor did any of my friends or family) thought that I would leave this spectacular state I have been so blessed to call home since the age of ten, I am full of excitement and anticipation for our new adventure.
For the last year I have been working full time as a graphic designer for a wonderful marketing company, Martopia, in Old Town Fort Collins. The security and stability of full time employment in my chosen field has allowed me the opportunity to carefully curate the projects I work on in my off time. I have collaborated with talented wedding professionals, met my goal of having 4 published features in 2014, and chosen projects that resonate with me in how I want to grow as an artist. Although saying goodbye to all these creative spirits and opportunities is difficult, I am exhilarated by the impending change.
It is my goal to grow my wedding photography business even more in 2015, with a stronger and clearer vision that will hone my unique niche in the industry. Furthermore, I am excited to announce that I will be launching a new brand in 2015 that will provide graphic design and branding for other photographers and creatives. The details will not be announced until January, but if you would like to be the first to hear the news, please join the mailing list.
As for my current clients and colleagues, my California Adventure won’t change much (except for less coffee dates and more palm tree pictures in your newsfeed). As I mentioned before, Matthew and I will be moving back to Colorado next July. I will be flying back for weddings, and have at least two trips planned for next spring, which I will announce for photo shoots and meetings.
