Are you curious about what it takes to prepare for Life Coach Certification through The Life Coach School? This week, I’m sharing all the behind-the-scenes details as I pack, prep, and get ready to head to Miami for a life-changing experience. From embracing personal growth to indulging in a little luxury, here’s everything that went into my journey to becoming certified.
Years ago, as a brand designer working primarily with photographers, I was introduced to the world of coaching by one of my clients. At first, I didn’t quite understand it. What exactly is life coaching? How does it work? But then I stumbled across Brooke Castillo, the founder of The Life Coach School. Her teachings and tools absolutely transformed my life.
For three years, I was a member of her Self-Coaching Scholars program, which taught me how to manage my mind, handle anxiety, and approach life with newfound confidence and clarity. The experience was so impactful that when I saw an opportunity to get certified through her school, I knew I had to be there.
As someone who’s always been passionate about growth—both personally and professionally—this certification felt like the next chapter for me. While I don’t plan to become a full-time coach, I’ve seen firsthand how these tools have helped my life coaching clients and my own life. I wanted to deepen my understanding so I could serve my clients at an even higher level.
This certification is a significant investment—$25,000 in total—but the value goes far beyond the price tag. It’s about believing in myself, stepping into the next level of my career, and committing to a goal I’ve had for years.
When preparing for Miami, I wanted a bag that was both functional and luxurious. Enter: my brand-new Louis Vuitton Neverfull GM in Damier Ebene canvas. This bag is the perfect carry-on for travel—spacious enough to hold my laptop, camera, and all my essentials. I’ve used this bag organizer to keep everything neat and accessible, and it’s been a game-changer.
Networking is a huge part of live events like this, so I designed custom business cards using Moo. I love Moo’s raised spot gloss finish—it adds a touch of luxury that’s perfect for representing my brand. Each card features different designs from my branding, including bold florals and geological textures.
Knowing I’d be taking furious notes during the practicum, I created my own custom notebook featuring my signature floral design and branding elements. Having tools that align with my brand isn’t just functional—it’s empowering.
Miami’s warm weather called for a complete wardrobe refresh. As a graphic designer, I’ve always believed in the power of a brand wardrobe that reflects your personal brand’s colors, textures, and overall aesthetic. For this trip, I stayed true to my bold floral and black color palette while incorporating lighter, Miami-appropriate pieces.
Wrinkles happen, but they don’t have to ruin your look. I swear by this travel steamer for keeping my clothes looking polished and professional on the go.
As a mom of two young children, this trip was a significant step for me—both personally and professionally. It’s the first time I’ve traveled alone since having my second child, and leaving them wasn’t easy. My oldest, especially, struggled with the idea of me being away.
We had a heartfelt conversation about doing hard things to grow stronger. I shared how I, too, felt nervous about traveling to a new place and meeting new people but explained how important it was to push past those fears.
This certification represents so much more than a professional milestone. It’s about:
As I embark on this journey, I can’t help but feel excited for what’s ahead. Life coaching tools have already changed my life, and I’m thrilled to deepen my knowledge and bring that transformation to others. This week in Miami is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to see how this experience will shape my life and business.
