5 Year Anniversary

This Saturday, January 11, 2009, is the 5 year wedding anniversary of my very dear friends, Susan and Monte Light, which means it is also the 5 year anniversary of the very first wedding I photographed. Susan and Monte were so incredibly generous and trusting to allow me to shoot their big day. Congratulations to them and a huge thank you for giving me the chance to launch my career in the wedding industry!
Sometimes it’s hard for me to believe I’ve been doing this for five years. It’s amazing to look back on my portfolio from 2009 and see how much my craft as well as my life has changed. I’ve since photographed dozens of weddings and even more sessions. I’ve gotten married, divorced, worked as a photographer full time, gone to art school, worked as a hairstylist part time, earned a college degree, worked as a freelance graphic designer, landed an amazing full time design position at a marketing agency, fallen crazy in love with a true “Mr. Right”, and honed my design and photography skills into something cherished and marketable. Through it all I’ve had this business. The name has changed. My name has changed too. But I believe that through all the ups, downs, and incredibly frustrating sales tax forms, my business has been my anchor. It has kept me on the right path pursing my art and furthering my education. It has always given me something to be proud of.
So here we are at the beginning of a brand new year, celebrating this five year anniversary of my first wedding. I’m excited to think about where I’ll be in another five. I have big plans for Moriah Riona LLC and I’m looking forward to the journey.
Congratulations again to Susan and Monte and a big “Thank You” to all the clients I’ve worked with over the last five years. You allow me to do what I love. I am forever grateful.
