Behind The Scenes

I know it’s been quiet around my little corner of the internet lately. Behind the scenes, however, life has been anything but quiet. I’ve been so engrossed in projects for the past couple of months that I have had little time to document them. So here is a quick update to bring my readers up to speed (and hint and what’s in store for you!).
Valentine’s Feature on Mile High Bride
In february I was ecstatic when my Styled Valentine’s Shoot was picked up to be featured on Mile High Bride. Then I was approached by Gavin Aung Than of Zen Pencils (the illustrator of the cartoon that inspired the shoot) to be featured on his blog as well. I was honestly overwhelmed by the incredible response this shoot received. My analytics went through the roof and I had people from all over the country (and the globe) writing the most thoughtful emails and comments about how touched they were when they saw the photographs. I was actually convinced for days after I shot the photographs, that they weren’t good enough. For almost a whole week I let them sit on my hard drive before I convinced myself to start editing them. I was self conscious of my work and self conscious of being the model in the pictures. However, I’m glad that I was able to get past that and share the images because it was incredibly humbling to see how people received them.
Feature on Zen Pencils
In February I also began working with the fabulous Emily Jolly of Jolly Events, a new wedding planning and events company here in Northern Colorado. We worked together for several months to co-produce an elaborate and sophisticated Styled Shoot at a brand new event center in town. The shoot took place two weeks ago and I am busy editing the photographs from that… I hope to be sharing with you soon!
At the end of March I gave a presentation to a bright and eager group of juniors and senior graphic design students at my alma mater, the University of Northern Colorado (which has an incredible graphic design/photography/art program… if you’re interested). It was an honor to speak to young graphic designers about my first year as a professional and the process of landing a great job. I was also thrilled to be able to catch up with my major professor and some old classmates over margaritas after the presentation.
