So, you want to know how to get life coaching clients—even if you’re totally new, have zero testimonials, and feel like you’re just figuring this whole coaching business thing out?
Good news: You don’t need to wait until you’re “ready.” I’m going to show you exactly how to start signing clients—even from scratch.
Stick around ‘til the end because I’m sharing one of my favorite ways to turn a free coaching session into a paying client.

Hey, I’m Moriah Riona—award-winning luxury brand designer, luxury branding coach, and the host of the Superbloom Coach Podcast.
And this is Superbloom Coach Presents: The Ultimate Guide to Starting Your Life Coaching Business!
This series is your step-by-step roadmap to launching your dream coaching biz—and today we’re talking about one of the biggest questions I get:
How do I actually get coaching clients—especially if I’m just starting out?
Before we dive in, make sure you grab the free workbook that goes along with this series.
You’ll find worksheets and prompts to help you take action on everything we’re talking about today.
Head to moriahriona.com/workbook or click the link in the description below to get it.
If you’re just getting started, one of the best ways to get life coaching clients is to simply start talking to people.
Not awkward salesy convos.
I mean genuine, excited conversations.
Let your friends, family, and network know you’re a coach and share the transformation you offer. Then ask—“Do you know someone who could benefit from this?”
This is one of the easiest ways to get early momentum in your coaching business—without overthinking it.
Free coaching sessions are a fantastic way to build confidence, get feedback, and land paying clients—but only if you do them right.
Here’s how to get the most out of them:
Position it with a clear result. Instead of “free coaching,” try: “Free 30-minute Confidence Breakthrough Session.” Make the transformation clear.
Treat it like a paid offer. Show up professionally. Use a scheduling tool like Dubsado, Acuity, or Calendly to create a smooth process.

Give real value. Don’t hold back or coach from scarcity. Offer them a real transformation or “aha” moment—even if it’s just a small shift. You’re building trust, and that trust is what turns a free session into a paying client.
Have a call-to-action. At the end, if it feels aligned, tell them how they can keep working with you. Let them know exactly what you offer and how to book.
Ask for a testimonial. Even if they don’t become a paying client, ask them to share what the session helped them with. That’s gold for your social proof.
You don’t need a dozen testimonials to start showing transformation. Share your OWN story. Talk about how the tools you now coach with have helped you.
And if you’ve coached friends or peers as practice—share what they experienced (with permission, of course).
This builds trust and makes your coaching business feel real—even before you’ve had your first paying client.
Want to know how to get life coaching clients faster? Look like someone who already has them.
That doesn’t mean faking it—but it does mean showing up professionally, confidently, and in alignment with the kind of clients you want to attract.
Here’s what that looks like:
A clean, strategic website that communicates value and builds trust
Consistent, high-end visuals (your logo, colors, and photography all matter)
Clear messaging that tells your dream client, “this was made for you”
And yes—this applies even if you’re just starting out. In fact, starting with a luxury brand foundation from the beginning is one of the smartest things you can do.
It helps you skip the “scrappy startup” phase and step straight into expert positioning.
That’s exactly what I help my clients do inside Luxury Brand Leader—we create brands that attract high-ticket clients, from day one.
If there’s one mindset shift that will change everything in your coaching business, it’s this:
You don’t need to be “ready.” You need to be willing.
Willing to take messy action.
Willing to show up.
Willing to make an offer—even if no one says ‘yes’ the first time.
That’s how to get life coaching clients when you’re just starting out: by showing up before you feel totally confident.
So, I want to know—what’s ONE action step you’re going to take today to get your first (or next) coaching client?
