In 2009, with merely a camera and a dream, I launched my wedding photography biz. Not the best way to start a company — but hey, it worked!
Since then, I’ve had the incredible honor of traveling throughout Colorado to photograph the marriage ceremonies of some of the sweetest and most lovable couples.
And this is a privilege I do not take lightly.
It’s what sparked my initial interest, turned obsession, in branding. It saw me through a nasty divorce. It saw me through college, when I returned at 26 years old, to earn a BA in graphic design. This biz was my side-hustle as I worked full time at a marketing firm, designing for Fortune 500 companies.
And in 2014, when I moved across the country with my then fiance (now husband), this biz became my full time career.
I rebranded, launched a new website, and struggled to somehow make weddings + branding a cohesive and profitable business.
But it honestly wasn’t working. And about 6 months in, there was a whisper, something I dared not say aloud: let go of weddings.
I wasn’t ready though. And I fought it for 2+ more years, exhausting myself, desperately clinging on to the wedding-side — while the branding side of my biz took off like wildfire.
Weddings had been with me through it all. Through better and worse. Richer and poorer. Sickness and health.
I was holding on, even though my passion was gone. Even though I really didn’t want to be shooting weddings anymore. It was comfortable. It was familiar. And it was like an old friend — I just couldn’t say goodbye.
So, last fall, desperate to regain the wedding-side of my biz, I $$$ paid for a coaching call from a well known and very successful wedding photographer.
One minute in, and he said, “why are you still shooting weddings???”
And I didn’t have an answer.
Two hours (and a lot of tears) later, I had finally said aloud what I had been fighting for so long. I was done.
He gave me the permission I needed — something I couldn’t do myself — to say goodbye. And while the process was painful, once done, I felt absolutely liberated.
Within a week I had hired a copywriter to help revamp my site. I started planning my rebrand. I was READY to move on.
I am launching my new branding and website, dedicated entirely to empowering female entrepreneurs with visual branding that gives them the confidence to succeed. Because I believe that confident and successful women will change the world.
This is more than a business to me.
This is my life’s purpose.
And I am so proud to finally share it with you. In invite you to go explore my new site — and follow me on this journey. Because I believe deeply in women empowering women.
We’re in this together, Girl.
And I’m excited to share this adventure with you.
p.s. I’ve poured my whole heart into this new brand — so I’d LOVE to celebrate with you! Reach out and let me know what you think. And if you know a badass boss babe who’s ready to elevate her own brand, be a doll and send her my way.
