Sometimes simple is best. With only a couple of minutes to get ready, I twisted my cousin, Erin’s, hair into a topknot, gave her glamorous cat eye liner, and a little red lip gloss. All of that and a gold sequined dress made for an elegant impromptu portrait session on the beach.
Last spring I watched a webinar by Leah Remillet in which she suggested making a list of areas you would like to improve in your photography. This comment made a quite an impression on me. One aspect of my own work I’ve always wanted to grow in is posing. With that in mind I asked my cousin to model for me during this last summer’s Kerr Family Reunion so I could experiment and push my posing into something more artistic and dramatic.
What a gift it was to work will such a lovely model in a dreamy landscape. Thank you Erin.
Do you keep a list of things you want to improve in your photography or business? I have found this to be a challenging – and rewarding – way to push myself as an artist. I’d love to know what areas you are trying to grow in. How do you plan to meet your goals? Tweet me.
